Hi Kathy,

Outdoor fans are built with materials that are meant to withstand outdoor elements and prevent "drooping" of blades. If you are looking for an outdoor fan that will be installed in an area that will have the fan directly exposed to the outdoor elements then look for one with a UL Wet rating. If you are looking for one that will be installed in an outdoor covered location then you should look for one with a UL Damp rating. An outdoor fan with the proper UL rating should last a long time and not show any signs of warping.

Check out our blog post on How to Choose an Outdoor Ceiling Fan for other things you should consider when buying an Outdoor ceiling fan. If you have any other questions just let me know. :)

My husband and I are fighting over outdoor fans. He insists that the 52" blades will droop after time because of heat. I have been looking at the Hunter line. Is this true?
